Elizabeth Elizalde was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas, and attended local schools.  She is a graduate of St. Edward's University in Austin Texas, where she acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish.   Elizabeth also obtained a Graduate certification from Midland College in long-term care and holds a license as a Long-Term Care Administrator.  She is currently the Executive Director at Val Verde Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and has been employed here for 11 years.   Elizabeth served on the City of Del Rio, Texas City Council; she was elected to Council on May 12, 2012, and served for two (2) terms/ 8 years, where represented District III, the district she was born and raised in.  During her tenure on the City Council, she also served as Mayor Pro Tem from May 2019 through November 2020.
 
Elizabeth is currently a member of the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce, the Del Rio Hispanic of Commerce, and other local groups.
 
During the past 25 years, she has served as a volunteer n the community in many capacities:

  • Christmas Operation Shoebox- local coordinator/founder 
  • Del Rio Little League Softball- Assistant Coach, girls’ 9-12 yr. olds team
