Food for Thought…
On September 10th, as we're placing flags, a gentleman came and thanked us for putting up flags in the community. Fellow Rotarian, David Ortiz, explained what it was for and again he thanked us. As he walked away, we realized he was wearing an Iraq Veteran cap. It brought tears to my eyes as he walked away, and it was difficult for me to keep a straight face. There was so much I wanted to say but was unable to say anything. In thought, we as Americans take our freedoms for granted. Remembering September 11th, we all stood together as AMERICANS, no red, black, white, or brown, we were all AMERICANS. Today, we see a division between red and blue parties, the color of our skin, religions, blue uniform, and black lives. Why can we not JUST BE AMERICANS, AMERICANS who stand together against injustice, terrorism, hate, and disease. Unfortunately, division is destroying us, as fellow Rotarians, we work together in helping and standing together selflessly to better our community. Let our goals be to help spread the values and vision of Rotary and help create AMERICANS WHO STAND UNITED AS ONE.
