Rotary Rodeo Queen Announced
 
Tuesday night, the Del Rio Rotary Club announced the winner of the Independence Day Rodeo Queen Contest at their annual installation dinner.  Seth McFadin introduced the three very qualified contestants to the Rotarians and guests attending the dinner. The contestants  were Hanna Swanson, Nevada Coe, and Rosanna Ramon. Laurie Scott contest coordinator explained that the contestants were judged on appearance, personality, citizenship and horsemanship. The citizenship portion consisted of a three minute speech entitled “What it means to be an American”. All contestants were required to ride their horses in an assigned pattern, ride around the arena holding a flag, and  demonstrate the Rodeo Wave while riding around the arena.
 
Contest Judge, Seth McFadin announced Hanna Swanson to be the winner. Bailey Kajans the 2009 Rotary Rodeo Queen put the tiara on Hanna’s Cowgirl Hat and pinned on her sash. She was awarded a $500.00 scholarship from the Rotary Club. She also received prizes including a gift certificate for $200.00 from Del Rio Feed and Supply and a Rotary Rodeo Queen belt buckle provided by sponsors of the contest; The Bank & Trust, Del Rio Feed & Supply, John Weston Ranch, Glenn, Graf & Bowers, CPAs, Dr. Rathke, Cripple Creek and Val Verde Wool & Mohair. All contestants received prizes.
 
 Hanna will represent the Del Rio Rotary Club at the Independence Day Rodeo July 2nd and 3rd. The new Rotary Rodeo Queen, Hanna Swanson is a senior at Sanderson High School who has participated in Terrell County Horse Shows, West Texas Extreme Riders and best of all Lester Meir Rodeos.
