Rotary University was created 2 ˝ years ago as an initiative for the Rotary Club of San Antonio to provide a “Start Right” for its new members. The basis for the concept is that new members are likely to drop out after a year or two if they do not feel connected. We believed that to become connected newmembers need to: Attend regularly so it becomes a habit. Make as many new acquaintances as possible. Become involved in the clubs activities. The best part of the program is the concept of earning degrees based on levels of achievement in the three areas outlined above. The degrees have become a motivator to even the busiest of members. The SA Rotary has had tenured members participate in Rotary University to earn their degrees because “we didn’t have Rotary U around when I was a new member.” The motivation is enhanced by presenting each degree to the graduate at a regular meeting. This means there can be three opportunities to be recognized by the club as one earns a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate. The graduates will be awarded stickers to be placed on their badge to reflect the degrees they have earned. At the time the Doctorate degree is awarded, the club also presents the graduate with a Certificate worth $100 toward the Paul Harris Fellowship. | ROTARY UNIVERSITY (by Keith Orme) -Downloads- Rotary U Outline for New Members Rotary U Degree Forms | The overview for new members at the Rotary Club of Del Rio is as follows: 1.
